Our second local artist to show their work at 12 Trinity Square is the lovely Emily Hillman. We are overjoyed that she has agreed to do this. It was really difficult to choose which ones to show as Emily came armed with so much artwork, that we could’ve filled the whole building!

Here is a little about Emily…

“Emily-Jane Hillman

Emily-Jane Hillman, born in Zimbabwe, won several National Eisteddfod prizes for poetry, writing and illustrations as a young girl and later received a place at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg where she studied Fine Art, gaining a distinction in sculpture. Soon after, she moved to London after being scouted by Premier Modeling Agency as well as a singer by SONY BMG.

In 2018 Emily-Jane returned to her first love and began exhibiting her paintings and sculpture in Wales where she now lives and creates art at HAUS Studios in Llandudno and in her studio in Conwy, Wales. Her oeuvre includes abstracts, figurative works, line drawings, cartoons, sculpture and illustrations, as well as Pop Art, photography, film and video work. She also does brand designing and has received commission for a private wine collection.

Emily-Jane, now a published poet and playwright, won a Jerwood/Arvon prize for her book After the Rains and is currently completing her Big Men’s Boots trilogy. She is also is the creator of the cartoon environmental protest series Green Man Says of which she is planning to release as an illustrated book sometime. Emily is married and has 3 children.

We conducted a funeral at the beautiful Ffolt Cemetery today. The cemetery cat accompanied the whole service. I think she was attracted to Trystan Lewis’ magnificent singing. 😺

This is my Great Aunt Florence. She was finally able to come and visit our funeral home and instantly went to the piano with a huge smile on her face. She is 97 years old and her memory is perfect but she’s slowing up a little these days 😂.

She has been telling me all about her brother Tom and their grandfather Thomas William Godwin who was the local Undertaker in their home town of Nantyglo in Gwent. “Dad Godwin” and Tom were expert carpenters and would make all the coffins from scratch. Often through the night.

Thomas was my great great grandfather. I have his top hat, but it’s a little small for me.

I’m so grateful that “Flo” can still remember all of our family history. Much of it is so often lost in time. JH

Chris, Cheryl, Peter and Linda visited the lovely Nan and Sue and Dave at Denbighshire Memorial Park and Crematorium today at their open day.

Nan handed a cheque for £190,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support on behalf of Memoria for money collected from their sites through the ICCM metal recycling scheme. Such a wonderful gesture.

It’s a beautiful place run by lovely people. Thank you so much for your support.
