We are very aware that Mother’s Day is such a poignant and difficult day for so many. Even though they may be gone, let’s remember everything that was wonderful about them and not let our grief take that away.

On Wednesday it will be twelve months since the first Marie Curie National Day of Reflection. Last year we had an incredibly humbling day with lots of lovely visitors to our funeral home. This year, due to a spike in local Covid19 infections we feel it would be unwise to have an open day. We are also conducting funerals which must obviously take priority.

But let’s not forget to make time to connect, supporting the millions of people who are grieving, and remembering the family, friends, neighbours and colleagues we’ve lost during the pandemic. While life is beginning to return to normal for some people, several million people are still living with the trauma of loss, and not being able to grieve properly. Let’s make the legacy of the pandemic years one of compassion, love and active support for those who grieve, both now, and in the years to come.

Don’t forget that Marie Curie offer support if you or someone you know is grieving.

Whether your bereavement was expected, happened recently
